I contacted House Planners to act as Party Wall Surveyors relating to an single storey extension we proposed to build to provide a ground floor bathroom for an elderly and less abled resident of the borough to enable them to live safely, independently and with dignity in their own home.

I received several quotes but House Planners were by far the most competitive and assured me of a highly personal and professional service.

House Planners were very efficient. They reviewed the proposed drawings and undertook a site visit. They spoke to neighbours and explained what was being proposed, the purpose of the Party Wall Act and the due process involved.

House Planners prepared the relevant Party Wall Notices to comply with the Act which they hand delivered to ensure minimum delay.

As House Planners had taken the trouble to discuss the proposal and the purpose and process of the Party Wall Act with the neighbours, they quickly signed and responded to the notices assenting to the works without appointing their own Party Wall surveyor to represent them in the matter which would have only caused delay and increased the cost of the project.

The extension was quickly finished and now the resident is able to live independently and with dignity in the comfort of their own home.

I envisage using House Planners again and am happy to recommend them to anyone proposing to extend their home.

Dawood Haddadi, Private Sector Housing Manager, Elmbridge Borough Council, July 2014

I am so grateful for your highly professional and such a sincere advice on the property.

Also thank you ever so much for sparing your precious time to visit the property by yourself with your colleague by traveling a long way as well as talking to the estate agents, I do not know how to thank you.

Atsuko Kato. North Finchley, April 2014

We needed to gut our kitchen including installation of a new boiler and under floor heating. We needed someone who could assist with the project management of the works as well as someone who understood the fundamentals of what we were after and could advise appropriately. Roland at House Planners performed this role excellently. From bringing in the relevant tradesman to ensuring the specification was right and documented, House Planners oversaw the whole process. Indeed Roland, not happy with one piece of work rolled his sleeves up and corrected himself! Overall a smooth process and would use House Planners again.

Daniel Adams, Thames Ditton, March 2014

I wanted to build a two storey extension at the rear of my property.

I had contracted the services of a RIBA accredited Architect who prepared drawings for me but sadly they did not represent my specific requirements though unfortunately I still had to pay for their services!

I contacted House Planners through “Service Start”; a web based search engine for construction professionals. House Planners called me with minimum delay and arranged a mutually convenient opportunity to meet with me and discuss my precise needs and requirements.

House Planners understood my brief and prepared numerous drawings that accurately depicted my proposed extension.

House Planners liaised with my local council and submitted a planning application on my behalf. Eight weeks later I got the good news that my application had been approved.

House Planners also prepared a Party Wall notice which was served on my neighbours which they happily approved on the spot.

I am now looking forward to the builders starting work and the completion of my life-changing extension.

I would be delighted to recommend House Planners to anyone considering extending their home.

Jayne Winters, Whitton, Middlesex, January 2014

I had just completed on the purchase of a family home for my wife, daughter and six week old baby. We were living in a rented house and wanted to move in to our new home with minimal delay.

The property needed complete modernisation and refurbishment and we wanted to undertake some internal structural works, create an additional bedroom and build a rear extension and a detached games room at the bottom of the garden. I had already chosen a builder who was ready to commence works but I knew I needed to submit a planning application for the rear extension.

House Planners was recommended to me by a property investor friend of mine. House Planners visited the property and spent time to establish my precise needs and requirements. I had not embarked on such a project before but House Planners explained the planning process; what the local council was likely to permit and the constraints that they would consider that would limit my building ambitions.

House Planners organised a meeting with the duty planning officer of the local council who was not in favour of my proposal. House Planners prepared numerous drawings and held two meetings with their contact in the planning department and really fought my case. House Planners prepared final drawings and submitted a planning application for exactly what I wanted all along and just eight weeks later, the application was granted.

House Planners made me aware of my rights and responsibilities under the Party Wall Act, prepared Party Wall Notices and undertook photographic Party Wall Surveys of my neighbour’s properties. They also liaised with Thames Water to enable me to build over existing man holes.

They completed a Building Control application on my behalf so the works were carried out under the auspices of the council and complied with current standards and their structural surveyor did the necessary design, calculation and specification of the supporting steel beams.

House Planners worked very closely with my builders so they knew exactly what they had to do to ensure the project ran smoothly, on time and on budget.

My family and I have now moved into our fantastic new home which is everything we wanted it to be and where we hope to be for many years to come.

We are very grateful to House Planners for helping make our dream home come true and would be delighted to recommend them to anyone considering extending or refurbishing their home.

Pellumb Fazllia, Ewell, May 2013

House Planners was recommended to me by a firm of Chartered Surveyors. A main contractor was nearing completion of the extension and refurbishment of my family home. Under the contract, it was my responsibility to prepare a snagging list which the contractor had to rectify before the final payment was made. I contracted House Planners to undertake a survey and to prepare a snagging list on my behalf.

I was very impressed by the scope of the survey and their keen eye for detail. Their report was fully photographed and written in a manner that presented technical information in clear and concise terms. They identified numerous defects that I had missed to ensure that the project was completed to a very high standard and that I got best value from my main contractor.

“Having an independent firm of surveyors prepare the snagging list on my behalf also meant that the good working relationship with the main contractor was preserved.”

Steve Wood, Cobham, May 2012.

“I used a local firm of architects to prepare drawings and submit a planning application for a side and rear extension to my house. Sadly the application was rejected. I contacted House Planners who examined the drawings, advised on key issues, liaised with my neighbours and their contacts in the planning department of the Local Council and resubmitted the application. We got it! Construction is due to commence next month. Thanks House Planners!”

Kevin Knott, Surrey, April 2012.

“We contacted House Planners regarding a side and rear extension to our family home and were very impressed with the highly professional and client focussed service. They really took the time to establish our precise requirements, suggested new ideas that we hadn’t previously considered and advised us of limitations. They submitted a planning application on our behalf, keeping us informed at each stage of the process and promptly responded to any queries we had. We got our planning permission first time around and are looking forward to the completion of our fantastic new extension.”
